Overview
The 2021.05.12 Release introduced a small change to the Revenue Report, which may impact the results of this report.
Previous Functionality
Prior to this release, the amounts in the Billing Schedule Report appeared in the month indicated by the Charge Ready Date. However, this did not accurately reflect billing timing in cases where the Billing Schedule Line was invoiced in a different month.
This same inaccuracy existed in the Revenue Report for Products with non-deferred revenue (for example, Products with Revenue Rule = Recognize on Invoicing), since the Billing Schedule is used to determine when revenue is recognized for these products.
Resolution
In order to remedy this, the Billing Schedule Report and Revenue Report (for non-deferred Revenue Products) will now show billed amounts in the month indicated by the Invoice Date, when available. When a Billing Schedule Line has not been invoiced, it appears in the month indicated by the Charge Ready Date.
Example:
A Billing Schedule Line for a Product with Revenue Rule = Recognize on Invoicing has a Charge Ready Date of 01/01/2021.
- This same Billing Schedule Line was invoiced on 03/11/2021, instead of the Charge Ready Date.
- This amount appears in the Billing Schedule Report for March 2021.
- This amount appears in the Revenue Report for March 2021 (when Include Non-Deferred Revenue is enabled).
- Prior to this release, the amount would have appeared in January 2021 in both reports.
