Welcome to our updated Subscription Management experience!
We’ve introduced new, user-friendly options to help your customers manage their subscriptions directly through the Embedded Checkout Portal. This guide walks through how these features work and how to configure the customer-facing options.
🔧 New Features Available
What’s New?
✅ Tabs for Subscription Status
Customers can now easily navigate their subscription history using clearly organized tabs:
- Active Subscriptions
View all currently active subscriptions, including billing cycle, plan details, and renewal dates. - Cancelled Subscriptions
Review previously canceled subscriptions, including cancellation date and final invoice summary. - Draft Subscriptions
See draft or pending subscriptions that haven’t been activated yet (e.g., scheduled for future start).
Change Subscription
Customers can switch to a different plan (within the same product family), increase/decrease the quantity of charges, Change the Effective Date, and drop a plan directly from the portal.
Upgrade / Downgrade Subscription
With this option, customers can:
- Upgrade to a higher-tier plan with additional features
- Downgrade to a more basic plan
- See a comparison between their current plan and available alternatives
The way this works is when a plan is created, we assign a plan bundle or plan family to it. A plan that needs an upgrade or a downgrade will need to be tagged within the same plan bundle or plan family. We have another field called priority sort. This field accepts ONLY numbers. This field basically helps in sorting the display of the plan cards.
Example:
Plan 1, Plan 2, Plan, Plan4, Plan5 displayed on the checkout. They belong to the same plan family - Plan family 1. And their priority sort number as follows:
Plan 1- 4
Plan 2-3
Plan 3-5
Plan 4-1
Plan 5-2
My current subscription has plan 2 and I want to upgrade this plan.
How do I do it?
The plans eligible for upgrade of Plan 2 will be Plan 1 and Plan 3 and the plans eligible for downgrade are Plan 5 and Plan 4.
Cancel Subscription
Customers can now cancel their subscription at their convenience. You can configure the cancellation behavior with the options provided on the image below.
A confirmation modal ensures customers understand the action and its effect.
⚙️ Admin Configuration via Setup Page
You can control how subscription options appear and behave on the portal through the Portal Setup Page.
Ordway user Admins can now control what fields they want to show or hide, and let their end users edit or keep it in a view only mode on their checkout page. This includes even the actionable features such as Change, Cancel, Delete!
Follow the Configuration Steps:
- Go to the Setup Page > Portal Setup under General Settings.
- Navigate to the Field Management > Subscription Settings section.
- For each feature, choose from:
- 🔒 View Only: Customers can see the option but not take action.
- 📝 Editable: Customers can take direct actions.
- 🔒 View Only: Customers can see the option but not take action.
- Save your changes to the configuration.
Changes will take effect immediately across all customer sessions.
