Report Description & Purpose
The MRR by Customer and Subscription Report gives users insight into the predictable monthly revenue by reflecting ending MRR values for customers with recurring charges. This report does not have conditions based on the Customer Status of Active or Inactive.
Note: The data source for all MRR/ARR Movement reports is refreshed every 24 hours at midnight. This means that the data is not instantaneously refreshed. Therefore, we recommend only running an MRR/ARR report 24 hours after data has been adjusted. All other Analytics reports update instantly.

Report Calculations Explained
Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) in this report is determined by the MRR associated with each Subscription Charge. Each Subscription Charge in Ordway will calculate MRR based on the total billing amount and the number of months between the Charge Start Date and Charge End Date.
This MRR amount will be displayed in the report for every month between these dates and aggregated for each Customer and Subscription.
The MRR/ARR Start Date will determine when MRR for a given Subscription first appears in the report. There are three options to provide flexibility in MRR reporting:
- Contract Effective Date - MRR will begin during the month of the Contract Effective Date associated with the Subscription.
- Service Start Date - MRR will begin during the month of the Service Start Date associated with the Subscription.
- Billing Start Date - MRR will begin during the month of the Billing Start Date associated with the Subscription.
Transaction Currency shown is Base Currency. Refer to the Filters section to view transactions by Transaction Currency.
Subscription Pause and Resume Impact on MRR Report
When a subscription is paused, Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) is not generated for the paused period. When the subscription is resumed, MRR appears again in the report starting from the Resume Effective Date.
MRR values in the MRR by Customer and Subscription (MRR/ARR by Month) report reflect only the months in which the subscription charge is active.
How Pause and Resume Affect MRR
- When a subscription is paused, the charge end date may be adjusted or the charge becomes inactive.
- During the paused period, MRR does not appear in the report.
- When the subscription is resumed, a new charge or updated charge period determines when MRR appears again.
- MRR is reflected only for months where the subscription charge is active within the charge period.
Example
| Month | Subscription Status | MRR Included |
| Aug | Active | Yes |
| Sep | Active | Yes |
| Oct | Active | Yes |
| Nov | Active | Yes |
| Dec | Active | Yes |
| Jan | Paused | No |
| Feb | Paused | No |
| Mar | Resumed | Yes |
In this example:
- MRR appears only for active months.
- Paused months are not included in the MRR calculation.
Example: Pause and Resume Behavior
Subscription Details
| Month | Subscription Status |
| Subscription ID | S-26268 |
| Service Start Date | Aug 1, 2024 |
| Pause Effective Date | Jan 31, 2025 |
| Resume Effective Date | Pending |
The subscription remains paused until a Resume Effective Date is set.
How the Pause Appears in the MRR Report
The MRR by Customer and Subscription report displays revenue by month.
In this example:
- The subscription shows $10 MRR while active.
- When the subscription is paused (Oct 2025), the MRR value becomes $0.
- MRR remains $0 for the entire paused period.
- When the subscription is resumed (Jan 2026), the report again shows $10 MRR starting from that month.
