Issue: Invoice did not accurately include taxes
Cause/Resolution: Avalara calculates the taxes on transactions based on the Shipping Addresses
Reference - Shipping To and Shipping From: https://developer.avalara.com/erp-integration-guide/sales-tax-badge/transactions/simple-transactions/addresses/
Shipping From address comes is retrieved from the Ordway Company Address. Make sure the Company Address in Ordway is accurate - including Country and Zip Code to properly calculate taxes.
Shipping To address on invoice is retrieved from from invoice line order or subscription shipping contact. It is a reference field. Therefore, when contact information is changed on Customers used on Orders or Subscriptions, it will affect future invoices.
On credit field is retrieved from the Credit Shipping Contact
On order(estimate tax) is retrieved from the Order Shipping Contact
On subscription is retrieved from the Subscription Shipping Sontact
Make sure it's set correctly and you use correct contact on Orders and Subscriptions.
Also check your Avalara Settings in Ordway via Menu > Setup > Integrations > Avalara > Settings > Calculate Tax on Partial Addresses
Full list of contact fields Ordway can send to Avalara:
Country => Country
State => Region
City => City
Address1 => Line1
Address2 => Line2
Zip => PostalCode
When enabled - Ordway only sends Country, Zip, State
Ensure these fields are set on contacts used on Subscriptions, Orders and Credits.
Minimum required is Country and Zip.
When disabled - Ordway sends all address values: Country, State, City, Address1, Address2, Zip. Minimum is Country + Zip or Country + Address1 + City + State or Country + Zip + Address1
Issue: Account not provisioned error
Cause/Resolution: There is a configuration that needs to be enabled in Avalara. Please reach out to the Avalara support team.
Issue/Error: Address invalid error
Cause/Resolution: An incorrect Street address does not prevent Taxing from being calculated since Taxes are calculated based on Zip, County and State. Check our article on How to verify an Address in Avalara.

Issue/Error: Address not properly reflected in Avalara
Cause/Resolution: Addresses retrieved by Avalara may not be the same.
Ship To address is retrieved from the Company Profile address in Ordway.
Tax is calculated based on the Contact’s Shipping Address in Ordway.
AvaTax-Rest-API returned error or any CertCapture error
Cause/Resolution: There may be a configuration that needs to be enabled in Avalara. Please reach out to the Avalara support team or account representative.
Avalara Connection Error
Cause/Resolution: First determine this is not caused by an internal issue by working with your IT department. Otherwise, reach out to the Avalara support team.
