You can use filters to limit a Journal Entry Run or Journal Entry Run Schedule to specific records instead of processing every eligible transaction within the selected date range and transaction types.
Filters let you define criteria such as a customer, product, invoice, subscription, or other supported transaction attributes.

How Filtering Works
A filter narrows a Journal Entry Run to records that match the specified criteria.
For example, you can filter a run to include transactions associated with a specific customer or product instead of including all eligible transactions in the selected date range.
Filter criteria work with your existing Transaction Date and Transaction Types selections using AND logic. All applicable conditions must be met for a filter to apply.
Apply a Filter to a Journal Entry Run
- In the left navigation page, click Finance > Journal Entry Runs. The Journal Entry Runs page is displayed.
- Click ADD. The New Journal Entry Run page is displayed.
- Under Transaction Date, select Between or Financial Period, and enter the date range.
- Under Transaction Types, select the required transaction types, or select All Transactions.
- Under Filter, select Filter to open the attribute picker.
- Select an attribute (for example, Customer: ID), an operator (for example, Is), and a value.
- Select Apply Filter.
- To add another condition, select + Add Filter and repeat steps 6–7.
- Select Save to run the Journal Entry Run.
- Run the Journal Entry Run.
Note: After the run completes, the filter criteria are displayed in read-only format on the Journal Entry Run Details page, so you can review the criteria used for that run.
Apply a Filter to a Journal Entry Run Schedule
You can add filters when you create a Journal Entry Run Schedule or edit an existing schedule.
- In the left navigation menu, select Finance > Journal Entry Runs, then select Schedules. Or select Setup > Schedules.
- The Schedules page is displayed.
- select + ADD or select an existing schedule to edit it. The Journal Entry Run Automation page is displayed.
- Under Schedule, select Daily, Weekly, or Monthly.
- Under Transaction Date, select Current Financial Period or All Periods prior to Current Financial Period.
- Under Journal Entry Date, select Transaction Date, Execution Date, or End of Financial Period.
- Under Filter, select Filter to open the attribute picker, then select an attribute, operator, and value, and select Apply Filter.
- Under Transaction Types, turn on the toggle for each required transaction type, or turn on All Transaction.
- Save the schedule.
The filter is stored as part of the schedule and is applied every time the schedule runs.
Tip: You can edit an existing Journal Entry Run Schedule at any time to add, change, or remove filter criteria.
Supported Filter Attributes
Journal Entry Run filters support attributes from the following transaction types:
- Customer
- Product
- Invoice
- Revenue Schedule
- Credit
- Payment
- Refund
- Order
- Subscription
- Dispute
- Payout
- Debit Memo
The available attributes vary by transaction type.
Important
If a filter attribute does not apply to one of the transaction types selected for the run, that transaction type is not excluded from the run. Instead, the transaction type is included based on the selected date range without applying the filter.
For example, if you apply a Product filter to a run that includes Orders, Payments, and Refunds, the Product filter applies to Orders. Payments and Refunds are included based on the date range alone.
Limitations
- Filter criteria combine with Transaction Date and Transaction Types using AND logic.
- Journal Entry Run filtering is currently available through the UI.
- Filtered Journal Entry Runs are not currently supported through the API or Workflow automation.
