Ordway offers the ability to import data in bulk. There are two paths for importing data in Ordway:
-
Traditional Import
-
Import Wizard
What’s the difference between the traditional import and the Import Wizard?
Traditional Import Tool
Ordway’s traditional import is an efficient no-frills tool built on our Import / Export Framework v1.0. The tool features a basic import process from uploading your file to getting the results in a download file. The heavy lifting is usually in getting data in the right format which can be complicated for objects such as Subscriptions with 95+ fields that are populated over many rows. The traditional import can be found by navigating to an object and clicking imports from the More menu. Example: Menu > Invoices > More > Imports.
Import Wizard
The Import Wizard features a step-by-step guided experience and a new file format that makes it easy to import standard Ordway objects such as Customers, Subscriptions, and Usage. Map fields from the import file to an Ordway field, save field mappings for recurring imports, review the data, fix errors, and view import history. Import up to 25,000 records per import, and launch multiple imports at once. Access the Import Wizard by navigating to Menu > Operations > Import Data.
The Import Wizard is built on Ordway’s 2.0 Import / Export Framework and leverages our APIs to process imports even faster. The new file format makes it easier to build import files and focus on the fields you need to populate for each object by separating the data into individual tabs.
Example: Subscription import files contain data for each child object (subscription charges, tiers, and transaction posting accounts) in separate Excel sheets.
This new data structure is consistent throughout import, export, and sample files for all objects migrated via the Import Wizard. Transitioning the remaining Objects to the new Import Wizard is on Ordway's Road map.
The Import Wizard automatically notifies users when an import has completed by generating an alert within Ordway's Notification Center. When you have notifications enabled, Import statuses are quickly accessible from the Notification Center.
