Payment methods are not automatically requested. The following steps must be completed to request a payment method. Options include:
Request Payment Method for a Single Customer
Preconditions:
The Request Payment Method Template must be active. See Manage Templates.
Steps:
- Navigate to Menu > Customer Accounts.
- Select a specific Customer
- On the Customer view page, click Request Payment Method from the More menu.
The Request Payment Method template opens and allows for specific adjustments to the recipients, subject line and email body, when needed.
4. After any necessary adjustments are made click Send.
Request Payment Method for Multiple Customers
Preconditions:
The Request Payment Method Template must be active. See Manage Templates.
Note: These steps can be followed to request a Payment Method for 25 Customers at a time.
Steps:
- Navigate to Menu > Customer Accounts.
- Click the checkbox to the left of each Customer you want to request a Payment Method from.
- Click Request Payment Method from the Actions Menu.
Customer Instructions
The Customer receives an email with a link prompting them to enter their payment information.
When paying with a credit or debit card, the Customer enters the card information. When paying with a bank account, the Customer chooses whether to verify instantly or verify manually.
- To verify instantly, Customer is prompted to login to the account and allow the payments to be made.
- To verify manually, Customer enters the relevant information (account number, routing number, etc.).
When verifying bank accounts, two small deposits are made in the account and the owner receives an email to confirm the deposits. The account owner can click the link in the email and enters the specific deposit amounts to verify the account.
