Requirement: Refer to our Email Configuration article prior to completing these steps.
Set up SPF & DKIM to authenticate your outbound email messages before updating the from and reply-to addresses on your email templates to ensure those emails are not considered spoofing or spam.
Steps:
1. Create a support ticket with the following information
-
- Company Name
- Domain Name (i.e., ordwaylabs.com or google.com)
- SubDomain(s) (if applicable)
2. Ordway will then perform the following:
-
-
- Add your domain(s) and subdomains into our email delivery platform
- Generate the DKIM Keys for your domain(s)
- Generate the SPF Record
- Send you a google doc link with the DKIM Key(s) & SPF Record
-
3. Add the DKIM keys to your domain’s DNS records:
- Add a new TXT record with the name mandrill._domainkey.example.com (replace example.com with the domain you’re setting up) with the value provided by Ordway.
- Create two CNAME records: (REQUIRED effective 2/14/2024): Failure to do so will result in email delivery failure.
- One with the name: mte1._domainkey.(replace example.com with the domain you’re setting up) with the value dkim1.mandrillapp.com
- Another with the name: mte2._domainkey.(replace example.com with the domain you’re setting up) with the value dkim2.mandrillapp.com
- Add DMARC:
- Create and save a TXT record in your DNS with a host of _dmarc.example.com (replace example.com with the domain you’re setting up) and a value of v=DMARC1; p=none; p=quarantine; p=reject
Note: Some DNS providers escape semicolons for you, while others require you to do it when setting up the record.
4. Add the SPF record to your domain’s DNS records
Add a new TXT record with the value provided by Ordway. If you already have a TXT record with SPF information, add include:spf.mandrillapp.com in the record before the last operator, which is usually ?all, ~all, or -all.
5. Verify Domain
Create a TXT record in your domain's DNS records with the value provided.
Example: mandrill_verify.MN90872lkjae9890AGKL
Note: It can take up to 48 hours after adding an SPF record or DKIM Keys for authentication to start working.
Next, refer to our Change From & Reply-to Addresses in Templates article.
