Follow these best practices when managing Templates in Ordway.
Be sure to read more about Templates before proceeding:
Rich Text Editor
Ordway provides a Rich Text Editor for email templates that allows users to edit text directly on it, so there is no need to update text via the Source option. Customize an HTML template or include Liquid logic for displaying specific data via the Source option.
Ordway also offers a default rich email template for all customers, please reach out to Support if your account is still using a text-only email template.
Template Views
Be mindful that a PDF preview has a different look and feel from the HTML preview.
- For Credit and Statement Templates; be sure to focus on the PDF view, as these are delivered via PDF only.
- For Quotes, ensure that both PDF and HTML versions display correctly, as the HTML version is used to collect signatures while the PDF version is sent via email.
Copy a Template
Important Notes:
- Any Custom fields used by a template must exist in both environments in order for templates to operate properly.
- When copying a template from one environment to another, keep in mind that the API names of custom fields must be used in both environments.
The best way to copy an existing template is to access the template and copy the content directly into a new template.
Steps:
- Navigate to Menu > Setup > Manage Templates.
- Click Edit from the Actions menu for the desired template.
-
Copy all content within the template. The best way to do this is to put your cursor in the template body and use shortcut keys to select all and copy.
- Click Cancel.
-
Next click + Add Template.
- Name the Template.
-
Paste the copied content into the template body.
- Edit the template as needed.
- Save when finished.
