A plan is how Ordway bundles products and charges to sell. Plans contain the details of what to charge a customer along with billing period information.
The benefit of creating a Plan is that it can be applied to multiple Customers, reducing the amount of manual work and minimizing the possibility of user error.
When Customers have both a one-time setup fee and a recurring monthly charge, a Plan can be established that contains both.
These example Plans contain more than one product or charge:

Custom Pricing
Products in Ordway have their own List Price. When added to a Plan, the List Price can be adjusted as needed to account for a discount or negotiated price.
Plan Customization
Plans are customized to meet the billing preferences of a Customer. Plan charge types and pricing models discussed below have a significant impact on customer billing and should be carefully considered.
Plan Charge Types
Plans can include multiple charges; each one with a different charge type as needed. Ordway offers three charge types:
- One-Time charges are generally used for a one off or non-repeating fee such as initial setup, cancellation, or termination fee.
- Recurring charges are most commonly used in Subscription Contracts to reflect charges billed on a periodic basis. Ordway allows you to specify billing frequency in multiples of days, weeks or months. In addition, each charge has it's own billing period boundaries and billing date - e.g. specify the billing period by calendar month with partial period proration or configure it to begin the day the customer signs up.
- Usage Based charges are used to track metered variable usage when charging for a product based on the number of units consumed.

Pricing Model
- Per Unit - Flat price per item.
- Volume - Individual levels of pricing, each with a different price. Volume pricing is excellent for encouraging a higher number of units, as discounts are generally offered with higher volume purchases.
- Tiered - pricing is set for each tier based on the number of units. Each tier is calculated independently of other tiers.
