Overview
Contacts can be imported to take bulk action such as adding multiple contacts, editing phone numbers and addresses. This use case covers adding new Contacts in Ordway.
Use the Contact Import option when importing only Contacts. Use the Customer Import option when adding Customers and Contacts.
Step 1: Build an Import File
Be sure to review Step 1: Build an Import File article before proceeding.

In the left navigation menu, click Operations > Import Data. The Import Data page is displayed.
- Download the Contacts Sample Template in the desired format; either .csv or .xls.
- Populate the data. Reference required fields for Contact Imports.

This use case for importing new Contacts includes:
ID Display Name Department State External ID Email Notes Zip First Name Phone Address 1 County Last Name Mobile Address 2 Country Customer ID Job Title City hubspot_id hubspot_buying_roles - Save the file when finished.
Note: If an integration is currently configured or was configured previously, related custom fields created by the system may still appear in the import fields list. Example: hubspot_id and hubspot_buying_roles
Step 2: Import Data

In the left navigation menu, click Operations > Import Data. The Import data page is displayed.

Select + IMPORT next to Contacts. The Import Contact page is displayed.
- Click SELECT FILE to navigate to the exported Customer data from Step 1. Accepted file types include .csv, .xlsx, or .zip.
- Optional: Enter the email address in the Send import results to the following email address box.
- Click NEXT to continue.
- Verify the object data to be uploaded with the corresponding spreadsheet tab.
- Click NEXT to continue.
- Verify all columns are correctly mapped on the Map Columns screen. Ordway automatically maps fields with the same name. Review all mappings to ensure they are correct.
- To edit or customize available mappings, read about how to Save Field Mappings.
- Click NEXT to Continue.
- The screen displays the number of records found.
- Click Import to continue.
- The screen displays the total number of rows processed per tab and any rows with errors. View failed record reasons by hovering over the error icon in red on the corresponding row.
- Fix any errors by clicking Fix Errors, then click in the individual cell to edit the value.
- Note: Be sure to check each tab included in the import and correct all errors.

- Once any errors are corrected, click Import.

Once the import completes, view the results including the number of records processed and records skipped due to errors.
- Click Done. You are automatically returned to the most recently visited page.
