Issue
Invoices with a net amount of $0 are generated during billing runs despite enabling the "Exclude $0 Billing Lines" setting. These invoices require manual removal before proceeding with the remaining invoices.
Root Cause
The "Exclude $0 Billing Lines" setting works at the individual billing line level, not at the invoice total level.
When non-zero billing lines offset each other, the resulting invoice total becomes $0. However, since the individual lines are not $0, they are not excluded.
Example:
| Billing Line | Amount |
|---|---|
| Recurring Charge | $100 |
| Credit / Adjustment | -$100 |
| Invoice Total | $0 |
Current Behavior
- Individual $0 billing lines are excluded when the setting is enabled.
- Non-zero billing lines totaling $0 are still included in the invoice.
- Automatic exclusion based on the net invoice amount is not supported.
Resolution / Workaround
Currently, there is no supported configuration or automated workaround to exclude invoices with a net $0 value.
Such invoices must be manually removed from the billing run before proceeding with the remaining invoices.
Conclusion
This is a current product limitation, not a billing calculation error. The exclusion setting applies only to individual $0 billing lines, not invoices with a net total of $0.
