Issue
Custom field values inherited from subscriptions are not appearing in invoice-level reports when multiple subscriptions are combined into a single invoice.
Root Cause
The inheritance of subscription custom field values depends on the "Separate Invoice for This Contract" flag.
When multiple subscriptions are consolidated into one invoice, each subscription may contain different values for the same custom field. The system cannot determine which subscription's value should be inherited at the invoice level.
To prevent ambiguity, custom field inheritance is designed to work only when the Separate Invoice flag is enabled.
Expected Behavior
- Flag Enabled: Each subscription generates a separate invoice, allowing its custom field values to be inherited accurately.
- Flag Disabled: Multiple subscriptions may be consolidated into one invoice, preventing subscription-level custom field inheritance.
Resolution
- Navigate to the relevant subscription.
- Enable "Separate Invoice for This Contract."
- Generate a separate invoice for the subscription.
- Verify that the inherited custom field values appear in the invoice-level report.
Conclusion
This is expected product behavior, not a defect. Enabling "Separate Invoice for This Contract" ensures a one-to-one relationship between the subscription and invoice, allowing accurate inheritance of custom field values.
