Defer the Service Start Date but align Billing Schedules with either the Service Start Date or Contract Effective Date.
Define Billing Alignment with Deferred Service Start Date
A setting provides users the option to define which date is used as the billing schedule start date when a service start date moves from deferred to a defined date. The current system behavior schedules billing from the Service Start Date, so this exists as an option to support backwards compatibility for existing customers.
Steps:
- Navigate to Menu > Setup > General Settings.
- Within Subscriptions settings, select either Service Start Date or Contract Effective Date from the drop-down menu for Billing Alignment with Deferred Service Start Date.
- Save when finished.
Defer Service Start Date
Complete the following steps to create a Subscription with a Deferred Start Date.
Steps:
- Navigate to Menu > Contracts & Orders > Subscription Contracts.
- Create a new Subscription and populate as normal. See Create New Subscription for more details.
- Toggle Defer Start Date ON.
- Save when finished.
5. Click Activate from the Actions menu for the new Subscription. Note the Billing Start Date reflects Pending.
Define Service Start Date
Complete the following steps once the Service Start Date is known.
Steps:
- Navigate to Menu > Contracts & Orders > Subscription Contracts.
- Click Change from the Actions menu for the subscription when appropriate.
- Toggle Defer Start Date OFF and define the Service Start Date and Billing Start Date.
- Enter the Service Start Date & Billing Start Date.
- Save when finished. Confirm changing the Subscription.
The corresponding Billing Schedules will commence as of the Service Start Date provided in the steps above.
Example:
When Billing Alignment with Deferred Service Start Date is set to Service Start Date, the system will schedule billing from the newly defined Service Start Date. If the new setting is set to Contract Effective Date, the system will schedule billing from the Contract Effective Date.
